저는 여기에 한 사람의 삼촌으로써, 스포츠 광으로써, CEO로써 또 그리고 유타의 자연을 사랑하는 사람으로써 그리고 자랑스러운 미국의 게이로써 여러분 앞에 섰습니다. 저는 여러분에게 단순한 메시지를 전하고자 합니다. 모든 LGBT들은 경청해주시고 믿어주셨사 합니다. 여러분들은 세상의 선물입니다. 독특하고 특별한 선물이죠, 여러분들의 모습 그대로 말입니다. 여러분들의 삶은 중요합니다. 저는 받아들이지 않는 가족과 사회에 그들을 맞추느라 분투하는 아이들의 이야기를 들었을때 가슴이 매우 아팠습니다. 다른 사람들이 ‘정상(normal)’이라고 생각하는 존재가 되기 위해 분투하는겁니다. 진정한 여러분을 찾고 진정하게 이야기 하고 진정하게 살기 바랍니다. 이 점을 말씀드리고 싶습니다 .’정상(normal)’이란 단어는 아마 역사상 가장 혐오스러운 단어일지 모릅니다 .우리는 모두 똑같을 수 없고, 똑같이 느끼고 생각할 수 없습니다. 그리고 그 점에 관하여 여러분이 잘못된 것은 단 하나도 없습니다. 저는 여러분의 인생이 어둡고 무거울 수 있다고 생각합니다 .그리고 어떨때는 부조리하고 견딜수 없을 지도 모르지요. 하지만 밤이 새서 날이 밝듯이 모든 어둠의 끝에 빛이 찾아옵니다. 우리들의 본래 모습으로 있을때 더 편할 것이고 태도도 변하겠지요. 인생은 더 나아질 것이고 더욱 나아질 것입니다 .
